*Background of Zoe Skills Institute*
*Origin & Inspiration*
Zoe Skills Institute traces its roots to the *Zoe Family Mission*, established on *17th December 2024* in *Sheba, Barberton, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa*.
The mission was born out of a spiritual encounter and reflection on *John 1:4* – _“In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind”_ – and *John 15:5* – _“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”_
From these scriptures, the founders drew two core convictions:
1. *Life and Light*: Every person carries inherent potential and purpose that should be nurtured and brought to light through education and skills.
2. *Fruitful Connection*: Sustainable growth and impact come from being rooted in strong values, community, and practical capability.
*Purpose & Mission*
Zoe Skills Institute was founded to translate this mission into tangible opportunity. The institute exists to equip young people and adults with market-relevant technical, vocational, and entrepreneurial skills that restore dignity, create employment, and drive community development.
The name “Zoe” comes from the Greek word for “life” used in John 1:4, reflecting the institute’s commitment to bringing life-changing skills and hope to learners.
*Focus Areas*
The institute focuses on practical, hands-on training aligned with industry needs in Zambia and the broader SADC region. Programs are designed to blend theoretical knowledge with applied practice, ensuring graduates can immediately contribute in the workplace or start their own ventures.
*Values*
- *Faith & Integrity*: Operating on Christian principles of honesty, service, and excellence.
- *Empowerment*: Giving learners tools to transform their own lives and communities.
- *Innovation*: Adopting modern teaching methodologies and adaptable curricula.
- *Community Impact*: Prioritizing programs that address local economic and social needs.
